The Proform elliptical trainer is a good value for the price. It has a good selection of functions and presets, and is a solid, well-built piece of equipment.

One of the things I really liked about the Proform elliptical is the compact size. I've got a limited amount of space for my fitness equipment, so the size of the Proform made a big difference over some of the other brands I've used.

The drawback to the compact size, however, is that it may make the machine a little more unstable for heavier users. I weigh about 200 lbs and there was a slight feeling of shifting side-to-side. I imagine for anyone weighing more than 250 lbs, the Proform may not be ideal.

The control panel on the Proform is easy to use and offers a good selection of controls and presets. The model I have offers 20 presets that will automatically adjust the resistance for different goals - aerobic, weight loss and performance.

It also has 2 heart rate workouts that will adjust resistance to keep your heart rate within a certain range. The hand grips have a heart rate monitor built-in, although I found that they weren't quite as accurate as my heart rate monitor is.

My Proform home elliptical machine also works with iFit cards, which are preprogrammed cards you can buy with specific training programs on them. I haven't tried this feature yet, but it's something that I liked about the Proform because it's almost like working with a personal trainer, from what I've read about it.

The Proform machine came unassembled and it took about 2 hours to get it put together. It's not particularly complicated, but if you're not mechanically inclined it could be a bit challenging.
