Precor Elliptical Machine Review

Precor is the company that invented the modern elliptical machine, and their equipment shows their experience. The Precor is very well built - a solid, sturdy machine that is one of the quietest I've ever used.

One of the unique features about Precor ellipticals is their "CrossRamp" technology - basically an adjustable incline for the pedals. This lets you target different muscles in different ways, depending on the incline of the ramp. The only thing I didn't like about this feature was that you can't get a Precor elliptical with moving arm levers and CrossRamp, at least not in a home elliptical machine. They apparently make a commercial one that has both, but it's either/or if you're buying one for home use.

The display on the Precor is excellent. It is easy to read and shows you all the important information about your workout, including ramp incline, time, distance, heart rate, etc. The buttons are easy to use and sensitive, so if you prefer a manual mode like I do, it's easy to manage the settings during your workout.

The biggest drawbacks to the Precor are the price and the size of the machine (as well as the lack of arm levers if you choose a CrossRamp model). Being as sturdy and solid as it is comes at a bit of a price - it's quite large. If you don't have space to dedicate to having it set up all the time, the Precor elliptical might not be your best choice. But if you can leave it set up permanently, it's definitely a good option.
