Octane Elliptical Machine Review

Pros: Sturdy & well-built, excellent display console, adjustable stride, close pedal spacing
Cons: Pricey

Octane elliptical machines are well-built and sturdy. They are very solid and stable. If you try to shift the pedals left and right on some ellipticals, there is some play, but the Octane machines have virtually no movement.

One of the unique features that I really like on the Octane elliptical is called Smartstride. It will adjust the stride length based on your pace. It makes sense that if you're running faster, your stride is going to be longer (say when you're sprinting as opposed to jogging) so this elliptical will adjust for that automatically. The pedals are also spaced closer together than many other ellipticals, which also helps to improve the comfort, not to mention help you avoid hip shifting and possible back and/or knee stress.

The Octane elliptical machine has an excellent display that will show you all the important stats while you work out:

• RPM (speed)
• Calories burned
• Level
• Time
• Calories/hour

It has 20 resistance levels and 6 pre-programmed modes:

• Manual (the one I normally use)
• Random
• Hill
• Interval
• 10K (beginner)
• Quick start

There is also another mode called X-Mode which will help you with cross training through Reverse, Squat, Push and Pull arms commands.

The Octane elliptical is not foldable, but it has a surprisingly small footprint considering how stable and full-featured it is. If you have limited space to leave your elliptical trainer set up all the time, the Octane strikes a good balance between size and features.
