Can I use a Bowflex Treadclimber during pregnancy?

I am an avid walker, but me and the hubby decided to purchase a treadclimber. I'm five months pregnant, and I know that the treadclimber is supposed to be a more avid workout, burning twice as much calories and working you into a sweat in under thirty minutes. Do you think that if I keep it to thirty minutes at a slow pace a day, I should be good to go using it?
Also, should I up my calorie intake? I average 1600 right now, I run 1300 basal, and I added 300 for my baby (which is the recommended amount)
I already did ask my doctor, and he is such an ass. He told me it was fine to lose weight, and then when a nurse interjected to tell him it was unsafe, he changed his mind and told me it was not ok to lose weight. What I am asking for is personal opinions and experiences... not my doctor's opinion. I'm not stupid enough to not consult my doctor, thank you very much.
Jackie, darling...your wrong.
I burn 1300 calories sitting.
How is 1600 to low for a mother?
And it isn't five hundred. It's three hundred. I am not obsessed with losing weight, I am trying to stay in a healthy shape. I don't mind gaining weight, as long as I'm healthy in the process. You should reread the question and try again.

I think using that would be fine, if maybe you broke it up to two 15 minute workouts, and maybe didn’t do such a avid workout. Especially since you say your an avid walker anyway, I don’t think it should do any harm. It’s best to talk to your doctor before you try anything. Your calorie intake seems perfect!!!! Conrats and GL =)

I think this is not a question for us but for your doc. He/she knows you or should and all these questions should be directed there. You are invested in this baby and your doc or practitioner is invested in your both. Good questions to lay on them. Don’t be afraid to ask ANYTHING.

Anything will be fine, but you want to do it for a lot less time. But it sounds like maybe you should not keep such track of your calorie intake. 1600 is wayyyy too low or a mother. Don’t be so obsessed with losing weight during your pregnancy. THat’s not safe for the baby. Doctors say to eat 500 calories more than usual when you are pregnant… and that’s just in the beginning.

i say go for it… but maybe do 3 x 10 min workouts so u dont get too hot..

if u get overheated then you can cause brain damage to your baby, just be careful, dont go so high impact and stay well hydrated… u shud drink 500ml of water for every 15 mins of workout..

take it kinda slow and gentle!

If you were/ are an avid walker and your routine hasn’t changed much in the five months that you’ve been pregnant, I don’t think it would be a problem. I was always told that if I had a routine before pregnancy that it was okay to stick to it during pregnancy as long as I didn’t over exert myself, overheat, or do anything too strenuous.
As for the calories, I don’t know much about that. I averaged about 1800 to 2000 before pregnancy, I’m sure. I’ve never been much of a calorie counter. I’m probably about the same now (20 weeks pregnant), though I do have my days when I feel like a little extra chocolate or a bowl of ice cream.
